Extended Embryo Culture
The long-term culture of embryos within the five days after fertilization, allows us to performe a greater selection of embryos over the ones that are later going tobe transferred to the uterus. This is because some embryos block their division on the third day of development. This technique ensures that the transferred embryos have overcome this blockade, in which thereby we increase the rate of embryo implantation, and therefore the pregnancy rate.
One requirement is that the number of resulting embryos after fertilization should be high, since not all of them will reach the blastocyst stage and not all of them will have a good quality, in which with a small number of embryos, the embryo transfer would take place on the 3rd day.
